The four members of KATINGA come from diferent backgrounds TANGO: Olivier Manoury, bandoneon, JAZZ: Javier Girotto, saxophones, CANDOMBE: Marcelo Russillo, percussions, FOLKLORE: Carlos "el Tero " Buschini, bass, but they have in common the music of RIO DE LA PLATA, namely Argentina and Uruguay

They play mostly original compositions

MUSICIANS

Javier Girotto, saxophones, is a leading Argentinian Jazzman. Born in 1965 in Cordoba (Argentina) he now lives in Rome.

As a lyrical soloist and achieved saxophone virtuoso he regularly appeared as a guest with Enrico Rava, Danilo Perez, Bob Moses, the French Orchestre National De Jazz, Antonelo Salis, Roy Hardgroove and many more. Since 1996 he recorded more than 10 albums as a leader.

Carlos "el tero" Buschini, bass , was born in 1964 in Despeñaderos, Argentine. Il now mainly lives in Italy and is sharing his time between Paris, Cuba, Argentina and the US. He played on Europe main jazz events besides Julien Lourau, Magik Malik, Daniel Mille, Laurent de Wild, Franco de Andrea.Thanks to is thorough knowledge of Latin American music and traditions, from Tango to the Andes, he is a very valuable partner in World Music projects in the US and in Japan

Marcelo Russillo, percussions, was born in Uruguay and lives in Paris, he is a Candombe specialist and a respected Latin Jazz drummer. He performed with Julien Lourau, Didier Ithuzarry, Norberto Pedreira, Minino Gary, Enrico Rava. In Argentina he played for many years with Dino Saluzzi.

Olivier Manoury , bandonéon, is mostly known as a tango musician. He played with Ernesto Rondo, Arrigo Cappelletti, Enrique Pascual, Jorge"negrito" Trasante, Jorge Chaminé, Bonga, Dee Dee Bridgewater, Serguei, les groupes Tangonéon et Tempo di Tango, and bass player Yves Torchinsky with whom he recorded a duo CD dedicated to Thelonious Monk's music. As a composer he wrote music for drama and movies. He wrote and performed "Che Quijote and Bandoneon" for choreographer Maurice Béjart

Carlos "El Tero" Buschini and Marcelo Russillo are members of Juan Carlos Caceres' Tango Negro.

Javier Girotto and El Tero are members ofCordoba Reunion together with Minino Garay (perc) et Gerardo di Giusto(p)
