Born in Oporto from Spanish mother and Portuguese father, Parisian of adoption, convinced
European, Jorge Chaminé is an open-minded baritone .
After of the studying law at the University of Coïmbra, Chaminé chooses
definitively the career of singer and becomes a pupil of Lola Rodríguez de
Aragón, Hans Hotter, Daniel Ferro and Jean-Pierre Blivet.
Opera Baritone (applauded recently in New York, Boston, Paris, Rome, Avignon, Seville,
Madrid, Marseilles, etc...), he has been a soloist with such orchestras as Boston
Symphony, London Symphony, Philarmonique Czech, Radio of Berlin, Bucharest Orchestra,
Gulbenkian, Sinfónica of Madrid, Orquestra Nacional do Porto, Ensemble Intercontemporain...;
conducted by Seiji Ozawa, (with whom he made his debut in Carnegie Hall, New York),
Claudio Scimone, Lord Menuhin, Michel Corboz, Rafael Frühbeck
de Burgos, Plácido Domingo, Manuel Ivo Cruz, Josep Pons, Mark Foster,
Arturo Tamayo; partner of singers like Mirella Freni (Boston and New York), Montserrat
Caballé (Opera de Bastille-Paris ) and especially Teresa Berganza in the historical
Carmen of the EXPO of Seville; he sang arias and duets by Mozart and Rossini in S.Carlos
of Lisbon; in the Rinaldo opera for the opening of the Holy year at Saint-Jacob de
Compostelle, etc...).
His knowledge of the languages (French, Italian, Russian, German, English and of
course Spanish and Portuguese) as well as the originality of its programs make Chaminé
an exeptional recital performer . He sings in the most prestigious concert halls
(Carnegie Hall, Teatro Real, Concertgebow, Gulbenkian, Théâtre des Chapms-Elysées,
Salle Pleyel...). In addition to his traditional repertory, he celebrated the Tango
at the sides of Olivier Manoury and is also interested in Fado, and in the melodies
of Jobim-Moraes or Cole Porter.
He premiered and was dedicated works by Bussotti, Lenot, Schwarz, Petit, Vlad and
Xenakis. Prize winner of several international institutions, Chaminé has just
received hands of Mister Federico Mayor, general manager of UNESCO, the Medal of
the Humans right, for his humanitary action for abandoned children.
He usually gives Master classes in France, Italy, Portugal and the USA.
