Born in 1949 Arrigo Cappelletti studied classical music with his grandfather who was a composer and
studied philosophy at the university of Milano
After teaching Philosophy during some years he turned to Jazz
First influenced by Paul Bley and Abdullah Ibrahim (Dollar Brand) he joins the avant-garde and records with Barre Phillips, Roberto Ottaviano, Riccardo Fioravanti, , Massimo Pintori, Bill Elgart, Gioconda Cilio, Giulio Visibelli and other musicians belonging to differents background as bandoneon player Olivier Manoury and accordeon player Gianni Coscia.
His art goes beyond the limits of jazz, involving literature (especially North and South American and Portuguese) poetry and vocal pieces reminding of Italian "verism".
Arrigo Cappelletti ,a remarkable pianist and improviser
is also a mountain climber and a musicologist.
He wrote an essay about Jazzz: IL PROFUMO DEL JAZZ (Edizioni Scientifiche
Italiane, Napoli 1996)
